Documentation

Given the European significance of the conceptual design and artistic decoration, it was necessary to proceed with appropriate initial documentation. From May to July 2024, the entire space was documented using high-resolution 3D laser scanning and photogrammetry to create an accurate record of its current state. The documentation will serve as a starting point for further research and surveys and will be available to restorers for recording their findings. The documentation of the entire space was carried out in cooperation with the company  G4D, s. r. o.

The Archbishopric of Olomouc requested an innovative approach to the entire documentation and the concentration of all the data in a single system. Rather than having individual parts exist separately in different formats and locations, the Archbishopric of Olomouc wanted a single system to cover the entire issue. The system would offer professional, high-resolution scans and photographs of the current state; enable downloading of orthophotos of individual walls; allow for direct recording of findings into the system; and ensure accessibility from anywhere, allowing every team member to comfortably work and share their findings. Emphasis was also placed on the future use of the data for 3D printing, virtual reality applications, and promotional videos. Considering these requirements, the Archbishopric of Olomouc turned to Bohumil Michalík, who provided a suitable solution.
