One key measure was the introduction of climate control. The Archbishopric of Olomouc purchased powerful dehumidifiers for each room to reduce relative humidity, the greatest threat to the metal fittings in the stucco decorations.
Climate control
Before dehumidification began, the relative humidity was around 95%, and water often condensed on the portals, walls, and stucco decorations.
Dehumidification eliminated condensation and gradually reduced humidity effectively. In each of the grottoes, the entrance grilles were also covered with Plexiglas for better climate control. The production of Plexiglas covers for the grilles for the Archbishopric of Olomouc was carried out by Tomáš Pavelka.
Following on from the previous findings and measures, the Archbishopric of Olomouc installed Hanwell temperature and humidity sensors in each sala terrena and grottoes. This will provide a better idea of the changes in climatic conditions throughout the year. Several sensors are located in the grottoes in different places and at different heights.
